In 2022-2023, we carried out phytosociological expertise for additional inventories for the Natura 2000 area Karkonosze PLC020001 (outside the Karkonosze National Park area) as part of the project entitled ‘Inventory of the country’s valuable natural habitats, the species occurring within them and the creation of a Natural Resources Data Bank’. The expertise included carrying out a natural inventory in the field and assessing the condition of natural habitats in two stages covering the 2022 and 2023 growing seasons.
The field work was carried out in accordance with the methodology of the State Environmental Monitoring of the Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection. They were divided into two stages, covering respectively 10 natural habitats in 2022 and 8 natural habitats in 2023. In addition, during the field surveys, other habitats listed in the Regulation of the Minister of the Environment of 13 April 2010 on natural habitats and species of Community interest, as well as on the criteria for selecting areas eligible for recognition or designation as Natura 2000 sites (i.e. Journal of Laws of 2014, item 1713), which, according to the aforementioned Regulation, require protection in the form of designation of Natura 2000 sites, were sought.
Habitat monitoring was carried out as part of Phase 1 (2022):
Habitat monitoring was carried out as part of Phase 2 (2022):
During the field surveys, phytosociological photographs were taken using the Braun-Blanquet method and habitat patch condition was assessed on the basis of specific indicators. Photographs were also taken of the patches and important species for the habitats. Following the field surveys, documentation was created including, for each habitat patch, observation sheets or simplified observation sheets, photographic documentation of the habitats and field surveys, a summary of the surveys for each habitat and shp layers of the occurring patches. The surveys showed reliable information on the occurring natural habitats in the area of the Karkonosze Natura 2000 Site (PLC020001), which makes it possible to introduce active protection measures and preserve the habitats in at least an unchanged state.
